Governance consulting helps boards drive impact for equitable organizations.

In my 10+ years as a governance consultant, there is one commonality: nonprofit boards always think they are better than they really are. I advise CEOs and trustees on how to govern effectively and equitably by exploring core governance structures, culture, and policies and identifying strategies to address areas for improvement.

Often CEOs and board members share a passion for the mission but a more limited understanding for how good governance works. They may step on each other's toes or tiptoe around each other — neither of which is productive. Other times boards neglect to evolve at the same pace as the organization, and fail to keep up.

This is especially true when it comes to ensuring their organization is equitable and inclusive. As the center of power for the nonprofit, boards must do their own hard work to ensure they are leading toward an equitable organization and a just world.

I partner with boards who want to benchmark themselves against best practice, improve their relationships between the board and CEO, and ultimately do what it takes to oversee a highly impactful organization that lasts long enough to realize its mission.
